Combat Clothing/appearance: Made of Shimazu and Saika forging, a series of plates are focused on deflection of melee weapons rather then ranged. The costume in itself is a hooded combat jacket that ends at the thigh with cargo pants designed of a mobile flexible material. This produces the high agile ability Hatsumei needs to move around. He wears kevlar threaded gloves mixed with silk and twaron. While there is also a gas mask faceguard at need, on average he's not wearing it as it requires additional time and provides less mobility and visual clarity as without. Combat Outfit Reference

Personality: Hatsumei from his upbringing within a Buddhist family has a rather calm feeling about him when not approached and can keep to himself when either writing or sketching. When getting his attention however and speaking, he comes off as someone who with a wry if sometimes cheeky matter that borders flirtatious, he is at most observances warm-hearted and keen of his surroundings. The other side of him involves family matters, where like his ancestor he takes strong prejudice to betrayal against his family, and is able to make shockingly ruthless decisions in contrast to his usual demeanor.
Likes: Carrot caaaaaaaaaake! Also writing, sketching, using the rifle range, chattering/rambling, and building things. Working with his father or others in trying to invent devices or equipment.
Dislikes: Carrots, cold shoulders, hyper indecisiveness, obstacles, (Hidden: The Tokugawa Government's overwatch on Kyushu.)
Ambitions/Goals: Currently under his father's efforts and learning as best he can to collapsing the Saga. Getting his own vessel to hang out on. Master Jiu-jistu! Studies: Warrior (hobby), Blacksmith (hobby)

Original Owner: Shimazu Tadatsune
Clan: Shimazu
History: History has a rich account of firsts and feats of prowess for Shimazu Tadatsune; the first Japanese to control the Ryūkyū Kingdom as it's ruler in it's semi independence, a man who was known for strong will and one to reform the clan and purge of corruption from within the Satsuma province to cement the power of the Shimazu in the coming centuries. Despite the failure of the invasions of Korea, Tadatsune proved his bravery and ferocity against seeming impossible odds when he led seven thousand samurai against an Army of the Ming counting in the number of 100,000, driving them off.
Much of the fighting of the Shimazu in the start of the century was making use of the arquebuis, to which Tadastune's brother make very credible use as well as he in taking on larger forces and briefly for a time led to the Kyushu province unification despite the fact of the several larger clans nearby.
(Segway off Real History Here)
In part of his efforts of enjoying the reformation and being a solid partner of western trade, a British commodore that was a part of one trade delegation had taken fondly to the land of Japan and specifically the climate and mixture of Western and Japanese mixture that Kyushu enjoyed. In part of that he had a commissioned blade created and given to Tadatsune after one particularly fierce battle against the Wako pirates harassing the western Kyushu shores, to which Tadastune made full use of in future engagements on the water and several times on land during the conquest of the Ryuku Kingdom.
Sacred Item: The Sword Pistol of Tadastune, Tetsu-Raitoningu
Activate Ability 1: Blowback - Activating it buffers a blast of air along the barrels on the side of the blade, improving the ability to parry heavier weapons. In a non-strike use of the ability, the blade will give an extra boost to dodging an incoming special attack. [Works for One Post Action, Two Post Turn Cooldown]
Activate Ability 2: Brimstone - After firing the pistol barrels, the red hot barrels begin spinning and encompassing the heat. Striking up against objects causes the struck object to increase in temperature, by stronger degrees with successive blows. Works for about two minutes. [Works for Three Posts, Barrels need to be either reheated or reloaded and fire again after two turns to cool off (two turn cooldown + action total)]
Activate Ability 3: Kyushu Storms - Reflecting the versatility of the commander of the previous owner, the Kyushu Storm Ability calls forth the winds of the land to enhance one of two ways. Because the power is divided the total ability is not as large as some others for the greatest ability, but allows for a difference of style as the situation demands.
Chikyū No Arashi - The blade emits a thick steam that swirls into a high speed of air with the "eye" being set about Hatsumei, restricting the senses and the ability to breath. It forms an area about twenty feet in a circle around him. [Last two post lengths with a four post length cooldown.]
Kura Udo Arashi - Instead of a circular cloud the winds now flow about Hatsumei, giving him a boost to speed and agility. Used by Hatsumei on average to burst move quickly towards or away from a target. [Two Post Turns use, shares cooldown with Chikyū No Arashi]
Passive 1: Reinforced Western Heart - Due to the combination of Western technology with Japanese forging, the blade has benefited from the hybridization of both sides of the military mind; allowing it to take on more blows that might be dangerous for swords to take otherwise in the form of blunt weapons, physical special attacks or attempts to break it. Abusing this reinforcement however is forewarned by previous users.
Passive 2: Mercurial Balancing - Due to the unbalanced design of pistol swords, the use of liquid metals built within the blade has sought to re-balance this issue alongside a longer handle. By this same re-balancing it also gives a added weight to his swings and provide that when Hatsumei does hit something it hits with the strength of someone with more muscle then he does while fully making use of his speed with the momentum. At need this allows him also to use the one handed weapon as a hand and a half in necessary circumstance.
OverburstColor: Forest Green
Overburst Power: The Few Against the Many: While Overbursting, Hatsumei uses the energy with every swing to also produce three energized cores that fire along in curved arcs to attack; two around at the opponents flanks and one over the head. Once struck they shatter and cause high heat damage on the areas they strike. If these arcs do not make their full half-circle swing around, these charges surge up and continue to split and redouble the amount of cores attacking, repeating the same arc. It is utilized best against larger numbers, but lasts longer with a single target.
Support: His father, Shimazu Tetsuga, his mother Shimazu Yoshiro and his Monk Guardian Tosai Tettsu.
History:
'Ok, so we're supposed to do this for home?' Hatsumei frowned thoughtfully as he awaited the message to come back on his phone. The App was a encoded Satsuma VOIP, though he had to use it fairly sparingly most of the time during peak hours when most of the trackers were on the alert. Most of the time he used it just to talk with friends and family at home to mesh in the conversations like this one as part of the data packs, but-
'Yes, some people back home were wanting to do an autobiography at home, and your mother was in Ryuku and wanting something to show to her friends. You know full well how she is ' The dry tone of his father combined with the well humored gravel he enjoyed came through the text quite easily for Hatsumei, and he smirked and nodded to the screen.
'Alright alright, give me a moment to gather my thoughts and get it into a document. Though honestly you of all people should know my childhood I would think >P ' The word doc was thrown up as he typed into the login screen of his Tindows OS X.
The time as all things do with a person begins at home. With the start of my life was between a marriage relationship between the Ryuku Kingdom's royal line as well as one from the Shimazu family. My father, Tetsuga, took up the marriage with some curiosity and the consideration of his bride, whom as much as the Ryuku Kingdom was now absorbed into the Japanese Shogunate provided that exotic appeal that one gets from the idea of a foreign custom or culture. Shō Yoshiro was a petite woman as far as I was told, but one who was (and still is) a very outspoken and energetic woman outside of formal ceremonies. Their honeymoon as far as Tosai's told me, who was a part of the arrangement as a Guardian of Yoshiro initially was very exciting-the fact they almost crashed their own boat on one of the smaller Islands around the Island chain near ended my parents' careers then and there.
With this sort of potential trouble hidden behind disciplined expressions and formal attire, I was born. My raising was set within a Buddhist religion thanks to Tosai's teachings, but also balanced with the efforts all thee of my tutors of life gave in the nature towards enjoying life within reason and exploring to find out just what was out there. I was the first of three kids; the other two being sisters to which I love dearly, but in the times they can meet me drive me to distraction.
My early childhood Was the children versions of what I do for hobbies now-the building of things and experimentation with my father, swordplay and martial arts with Tosai, and writing and sketching with my mother. There was a point when I was twelve I did find out mother was quite competent in other skills; it was in the afternoon as I watched my father running around and ducking behind objects as mother ran after hi in a range, sticking what I thought were not so sharp wooden utensils into several fruit in baskets next to father and one knife thunking into a wall about an inch or two deep. Tosai explained after her methods of combat were more agility and dexterity, something that would come to be the focus of my training as years went on.
It was at this time I was visiting my mother's family as well as residing in Satsuma. The ability to see, experience and thrive as it were from the many cultures and ideas was impressed upon me. What also was, growing into my teens, was the oppressive overwatch the Tokugawa Shogunate enjoyed freely it seemed at the expense of the other Clans. Even with the freedoms the Shimazu in particular enjoyed, father always impressed upon me about the proxy clans who were in effect the leashed dogs of the Tokugawa in the northern part of Kyushu to keep the worst of our ambitions in line.
One particular thing I saw before heading into the Bugei Academy in the capital was the suppression of several fishing and naval yards partially controlled by western powers as well as the Shimazu. The charges were threadbare and afterwards found to be politically motivated, and yet the Shimazu could do little from it's position while their eyes were set on them to try and keep the Western investments in check. Perhaps it was by some accident or fortune, but that was when I was introduced and given Tetsu-Raitoningu. Since then, it's been Tosais primarily focus of both training my internal and external endurance and combat with it, with my mother teaching me how to use it lightly and my father with a defensive stance.
My time in the Academy has been painful at the least. While there was some schisms towards what I have been sent to learn (politics take an acquired taste for enjoying full on) and my classmates strike me as a mixture of sociopaths, those who enjoy talking political shop, and people in my boat of learning but not enthralled. My achievements into the second year occurred however by my ability to use logistics and my hobby-based experience to outperform in the managing of the "lands" the scenario project that was our finals used. The fact we were pulling from other classes to help them make their second years for our own use on the grand scheme of the Finals project was an interesting twist, but it was a good way of breaking down the isolation that might happen between the house classes. Tosai was a great help in most respects, and has been helping impress on me the meditative positions to help de-stress about the issues at hand, and the inability to change.
Now heading into my second year, and the requirements of uniforms have decreased, I've been able to enjoy my more casual clothing at school, provided I'm not using those clothes or my combat uniform in more formal occasions or in lectures. The time for making a few more friends then my pencil might be a bit more apt since most people I know is by sight or acquaintance. I got your email about the whole political gains too, but here's to looking at what Oda's doing with some interest.
