Unless it gets too hot out, then she deems to wear a sleeveless version of her usual dress. If it is too cold, then she wears a simple jacket over her regular attire.
Inventory/accessories: Cellphone, Wallet, a cross necklace wrapped around her right hand's wrist.
~Self~
Personality: Mai is a very quiet and reserved girl, never speaking to anyone except when answering questions given by teachers in class. Thus far she has not made a single friend, nor made any effort to, for Mai firmly believes that making friends would only serve to distract her from graduating. Yet, the girl does make several unwittingly strange attempts at contact, such as helping someone pick up their dropped belongings and returning them (seldom walking great distances to drop it off at their homes). Though she isn't a devout believer in the Western religion, Christianity, she is seldom seen carrying a small cross on her person. Therefore people see her as an exotic foreigner despite her Japanese descended lineage. The white hair and red eyes do not help.
Though she may seem to ignore others or outright walk right by those that try to get her attention, she does have a compassionate and loving side. Though most of it towards animals, primarily dogs. It is the only time she can be seen smiling, and even then it is an isolated case. Sometimes, on certain days, she can be seen looking out in the distance of Bugei, as if reminiscent of something long forgotten.

- Dogs

- Literature

Dislikes:

Ambitions/Goals: Mai simply wishes to live in peace and quiet.
Habits/Mannerisms: Mai's face always holds a vacant and expressionless look to it, except when she's dealing with animals, then her expressionless look changes to a smile followed along by light blushing. She can be seen drifting to and fro, like a ghost, through classes. Her white hair, quiet demeanor, and unusual attire has everyone nicknaming her "Miss Ghost".
Strengths:
- Virtuous - Though Mai is quiet and reserved, she knows when to put an end to something she see's as an injustice or unlawful. This could go from bullying all the way up to robbery.
- Lithe - Due to Mai's upbringing and the subsequent physical education she receives now, her body is flexible and supple, able to adapt to many positions and capable of acrobatic feats most people cringe at. She is by no means athletic, it was simply a requirement she demanded of herself, with the school supplementing additional training.
- Intellectual - Mai uses her intelligence and logic to face off against foes more superior to her in terms of strength and raw fighting spirit.
Weaknesses:
- Chaste - Mai is a pure and highly moral person, this seldom causes her to become oblivious to the purposes of the greater good. Which results in her simply taking care of things now, instead of contemplating what they could impact later on.
- Delicate - During the earlier parts of her life, Mai spent most of her years growing up in a hospital being treated for active tuberculosis. Though by now she is capable of most physical activities, her stamina is below par compared to the rest of the student body.
- Logical - Because of how much Mai relies on her intelligence, she braves through most situations with a logical approach. Though effective in school and other situations, there really isn't anything logical in friendship or a relationship.
~Ancestor~
Samurai Name: Kaihime
Clan: None
History: "Lady Kai, speculated to have been born in 1572, was the daughter of Narita Ujinaga, retainer of the Late Hojo clan in the Kanto region. She is known as the legendary woman who helped her father's resistance at Oshi Castle against Toyotomi Hideyoshi's army during the Siege of Odawara. Though known for her bravery and beauty, modern historians are unsure if she actually performed the deeds in the tales surrounding her and it is highly likely that many of her feats stem from contemporary historical novels or folklore from the Edo period.
In June 1590, Ishida Mitsunari led a 20,000-man army to take Oshi Castle. Owing to lack of foresight and planning, his army was devastated by a water attack. Kai was said to have volunteered to rout the remaining soldiers, donning armor and riding on horseback with 200 men. When Ishida was reinforced by Sanada Masayuki, Sanada Nobushige and Asano Nagamasa, she was said to have slain the Sanada retainer, Miyage Takashige. When Odawara Castle surrendered, her father also chose to do the same with the hope of ending warfare.
She and her father were put under Gamo Ujisato's care for a time. Sometime when her father was away, an internal rebellion was caused by Hamada Shugen and his younger brother (historical records suggest that the revolt was actually started by Ujinaga's brothers). During this time, Kai's mother-in-law was killed. As soon as she heard about the incident, Kai brandished a sword and sought to end the rebels. She slew the instigator and two followers, effectively repressing the bloodshed. Hideyoshi heard of her bravery and named her one of his concubines. As a result, her father became one of Hideyoshi's trusted generals.
Much later, near the end of the 'Siege of Osaka Summer Campaign', she is said to have fled with Toyotomi Hideyori's concubine and Hideyori's daughter, Nahime. The three of them became nuns at Tokei-ji."
Sacred Item: Cross Necklace
Aura (Ability 1): Unlocking the initial powers of the sacred item causes an aura to exude from Mai's body, which causes mild nausea and a nagging desire to look away from her. It can last for two posts; one post cool down.
Heightened Senses(Ability 2): Mai uses the energy gathered around the sacred item to permeate her body with it. The energy absorbed goes into enhancing the five senses of her body, touch, sight, smell, hearing, and taste. It lasts for one post, and comes at a risky price (If someone decides to throw a smelly smoke bomb, it would cause Mai to choke and cough uncontrollably). It lasts for one post; two post cool down.
Precognition(Ability 3): Releasing the full power of her sacred item, Mai is granted the ability to foretell future events, but it is limited to only her own future. Though the loop-hole is that anyone accompanying Mai at the time (unlikely as that is) will also have their future told, though only because it still pertains to Mai's future. For example, she'll be shown a vision of her tripping on a certain rock, on a certain road she might be thinking of walking on a certain day with someone catching her. This is meant to be a supporting ability, used to supplement others. This ability strains Mai both mentally and physically, allowing her to use it only once before she has to rest and recuperate. Her eyes turn a bright blue when she is in this trance. One post duration. It lasts for one post; next session cool down.
Calming Aura(Passive 1): Those around her feel serene and relaxed, allowing them to think more clearly and feel more welcome around the unwelcoming girl.
Healing Aura(Passive 2): Slowly heals those around her, it doesn't work very fast, but it is most noticeable on minor injuries like bruises and cuts, causing them to close up and heal faster.
~Background~
Support:
- Miura Azami (Age 43) - Mai's strict, but loving father, he was one of the first to realize how feeble her little girl was, and is overly-protective of her with good reasons. He is one of the obstacles Mai had to overcome to enroll in Bugei Academy.
- Ayane Azami (Age 38) - Mai's kind and ever cheerful mother, she was the only one in the family that agreed to hand over the unusual sacred item that held Kaihime's spirit and allow her to attend Bugei Academy.
- Hiroki Shiroyama (Age 27) - Mai's uncle, spirited and compassionate, he owns and runs a local grocery shop with his wife. He has been responsible for making sure Mai eats healthy, balanced meals whenever he catches her passing by, providing her with bags of freshly grown produce from the farms surrounding the area.
- Mio Shiroyama (Age 24) - Mai's aunt, just as spirited and compassionate as her husband Hiroki, she acts as a big sister for her sister's daughter, Mai.
History: Mai was born into the world immediately needing life support due to an early onset of tuberculosis. Which meant she spent all of her childhood, and all of her birthday's inside a hospital. It took a while, but her family was relieved when they were told Mai had undergone a miraculous recovery due to some Western doctor's ingenuity. She was seven at that time, and having had no outside contact with others her age, she grew up in the family home naturally sheltered.
For another three careful years, her parents made sure everything Mai partook in was healthy and well within her capabilities. The little girl Mai as of yet wasn't exactly the most athletic, nor was she the most enduring. She could only run and jog for about five minutes before her lungs gave out, and she had to stop and rest for hours before being able to do anything physical. It took two long years, but Mai was simply tired of being unable to do what others her age could, so she trained herself. She couldn't push the limit like others, but she trained her body and made it a flexible work of art.
By the time she was fourteen, Mai showed improvement in both stamina and physical endurance, though still not as good as most other her age. It was during this time that Mai became interested in Bugei Academy, having heard it muttered more then once by customers during the times she worked at her uncle's grocery shop. It was a long, verbal discussion between Mai's parents, mostly her father, about Mai's future. It included Mai's uncle and aunt, and all but her mother really attempted to persuade Mai to let go of Bugei Academy and instead live a more normal life with them.
Mai refused, she had already decided. Bugei Academy spit out the most successful politicians, military leaders, tacticians and intellectual's this side of the Earth. She wanted to be a part of that legacy, though she didn't really know the importance of what came next. Her mother, silent throughout the entire discussion, stepped out of the room and returned moments later carrying an old-looking pouch. Mai watched and awaited breathlessly, though she didn't know why, what exactly it was that her mother had just retrieved.
It was a silver cross, adorned with a single sapphire blue jewel in the middle. That was a really strange item to have in such an age, Christianity wasn't very popular in Japan after all. And even then, Japan only ever traded materialistic goods with the West, not religious ideas. Yet she was told within this beautiful, pristine looking cross, was the spirit of a brave and beautiful warrior princess named Kaihime, or Lady Kai. Mai's mother slipped it around her wrist and gently patted the young girl on the head, "Go Mai, go see what the future has to hold for you."
It wasn't until after the objections were put down that Mai's mother began explaining what it was she had just handed to her. Bugei Academy wouldn't just accept anyone, but they would accept someone with a sacred item, artifacts that held the spirits and ideals of the one they descended from. The mysterious, brave, beautiful and legendary woman that fought against the odds, and then even became a nun after it all, Kaihime. It was off to Bugei Academy.
