<> Self <>
Personality: Naegi was often described as being very kind, to the most unbelievable lengths that is, ridiculously farfetched even, not possessing a fighter spirit despite his vast talents; in fact, he may be hiding his fighter spirit around others. He also appeared to have health issues. Naegi has an unusually gentle and really warm personality that augments his appearance. Naegi is a quiet, very polite, and compassionate boy who uses honorifics when addressing everyone, including his enemy/rivals. He very rarely shows any signs of panic or distress despite of the severity of the situation, and has a great sense of duty. He is notably calm, and clear-headed, even in the midst of mêlée, and no one can disagree with the fact of his adaptability, he’s adaptable to almost every situation at hand to an irrationally miraculous degree, and he is also versatile, resourceful and multifaceted as an individual, which is rather maddening for his peers. On top of that, he is also bolder than the most daring of adults, and hot-headed delinquents – meaning he’d dare do something that someone has never ever done before, a daredevil, making major breakthrough and force himself to do something that others won’t stand up for, too scared to do, and everything else along the lines, but he will still follow the regulations.
With his grace, virtuousness and kind manners, he lets others know quietly that while he may be soft, he is not to be taken lightly. Usually, to keep up appearance that is, Naegi acts in a principled and very cultured manner. He always seems abnormally serene, cold and apathetic towards other people, even while actually deeply conflicted. Naegi is otherworldly perceptive – to the point of suspected of being able to converse with ghost, demons and other spiritual beings, or the usage of some weird supernatural abilities to fluently foresee, expect and deduce all things around him, and perhaps his scariest feature, fully aware of the limitations of his capacities, and anything he states in comparison of his own abilities to a friend or an adversary is usually reasonable and justified. He is also unnaturally more intelligent than the average people, a real genius. If this was a real life case, he'd be placed first in any national-level test with great ease, of every subject possible. Nobody was capable of teaching him anything because he could only learn from experiencing it. He is also a very religious and pious person, and is a follower of Buddhism.
He is also a highly creative personage, and also able in many ways, in his mind, his creativeness works in mysterious and often illogical, paradoxical and inconsistent ways. His creative thinking is eerily more stable and constant than others with the same thought-train of creativity, inspiration and ideas often arise seemingly out of nowhere and then fail to show up when we most need them, and creative thinking requires complex cognition yet is completely distinct from the thinking process. However, that isn’t so, because he never fails to make them appear when he most need them. The world is an oyster for him, as such he is perversely adventurous and active in both the body and mind-- he see possibilities everywhere and is constantly taking in information that becomes fodder for creative expression. But, he is a very straightforward person, and honest beyond words. Furthermore, he sticks to the basics only, however, it’s what makes him a powerful and deadly combatant. His basic being so solid and perfect, and was practiced over and over again, that he leaves virtually no flaws in his stances, executions and gestures, he’s overly efficient like a machine.
He love to expose himself to new experiences, sensations and states of mind -- and this openness is a significant predictor of his creative output. He is very broad-minded and forward-thinking, even more so than others as open-minded as he is, or own his peers. He is frightening not only because he sees everything, the smallest of details – minutes details and so on- and the biggest of picture, and everything underlying, but forward in his thinking, beyond even the present and ahead. He’s also indomitable of will, and unyielding of persistance, something that his peers and instructors find as amazingly exemplary.
Likes: Tea and Coffee – White Coffee, if you will, praying at the temple. Going outside, visiting Buddhist, Churches and Taoist temples, most of religious places and historical places, and traveling in general. Foods, restaurants and cooking, being as active as possible in mind and body, and lastly enduring hard training and constantly training.
Dislikes: Not able to train, lack of training, those who cheats to further themselves in a competition, cowards and cowardly people who does bad things, and those who resorts to trickeries, deception and the likes.
Ambitions/Goals: His goal is simply to become the best of them all, to become better than everyone else and to stand above all of them. But, if we’re to elaborate, he simply wants to become a high-ranking official in the military, like all of the men of his family are; including his brother and father both of whom are in office right now. And, in actuality, he only wants to have enough strength and authority to protect those he loves.
Habits/Mannerisms: Wielding his bokken anywhere, and training regularly. Drinking tea with sophisticated ceremony, cracking his knuckles, always readying his stance before a fight or training, always bowing his head in a formal manner before challenge or spar, and reading present day literatures, books, newspaper and historical texts.

Support:
Naegi, Seimei: Seimei is Ariyuki’s father and the current Head of the Naegi Family. One of the general of the Tokugawa Shogunate, still active to this day. He is very strict, and martial and scarier than words can describe him, yet benevolent and very youthful, but Ariyuki knows it’s for the best, and of course his family. After the present Shogunate seized power, Seimei became known as a talented financial manager due to his knowledge and skill at calculation. From that day onward, he was the administrator of Edo. He was appointed one of the four bugyo, or top administrators of Shogunate's government. Ariyuki follows his father's style of combat, Seimei fights using his ōdachi with an iaijutsu-style that delivers swift and gruesome death to any and all opposition. Seimei is one of the most outstanding people of his time.
Naegi, Otome : Otome is Ariyuki's mother, she is very motherly, soft-hearted and friendly, benevolent and virtuous, and perhaps is the best example of true virtuousness and goodness, and was considered the model example of how a mother should be towards their children, being very kind to children, her love for her own children are beyond measure, and she'd be willing to do anything for them - for them to have the best of everything, living environments, facilities, education, etc. She only wish the best for them all, and she's sometimes pained by the pain or her own sons and daughters. It is said that her support motivated her husband to become a general of the military, and official of the shogunate. She teach in the local shrine and temple in Hokkaido. Before, she was a leader of bureaucrats in Hokkaido.
Naegi, Ienaga: Ariyuki's oldest sibling, he's perhaps Ariyuki's sole objective. Next to his father, Ienaga is also a very high-ranking official of the Shogunate and the youngest military commander ever to assume an office, and seniority over those twice his own age, and of course, a talent that comes once in every decade. But, like his father, this doesn't come with simply his talent and knack for it, but also, mountains of hard work. He's a very caring brother, almost always doting about Ariyuki's day to day activity and life, or bragging about him to his senior in duty. Due to being born in Hagi of Nagato province, he grew up in-between the persecution of those who supports the Shogunate and those who opposes them.
Naegi, Keikain: Ariyuki's oldest sister, she is a devoted follower of religion and the second non-martial in family beside the mother. However, she may not be doing the fighting like the rest of her siblings she is a very capable combatant, after all, she is a black belt and dan holder for several modern days martials art. She also cares for Ariyuki's wellbeing, and is the closest between the siblings - people would say their love and feelings for each other goes past that of a normal sibling's, and was once an alumna of the same Bugei school. She was born in Ise Shrine of Ise province, and has been living there since - she only goes away to visit her family, and Ariyuki, and is the most senior and experieced priestess of her generation, holding far more responsibility and duty than those of her generations and her predecessors. And, she is a modern day Onmyōji; being a veteran, and the best of the best in her profession. She was mentored directly by the today's Key Guardian of the Shrine.
Naegi, Kyuubei: She is the second youngest child of the family, and only a little older than Ariyuki, her relationship with him isn't clear. But, it is assumed because she is also busy with her own activities that she has little times to engage with Ariyuki. However, she does admits that she likes her 'foolish little brother' and has high expectations for him. She is also very famous in the Shogunate and Military, and an important and strategic war asset, for her outstanding skills and flawless records of service. In the military, there was no one like her, or as impressive, ever before. She received recommendation from the top of the military themselves. Even before that, she easily bested her given instructors and mentors, but that was because she worked harder than anyone else in her group age, and trained gratuitously more than anyone else.
History: Ariyuki was born in a rural town at the edge of Hakodate, Hokkaido. While he had an impressively wonderful mother, he was not raised up by the country side of Hokkaido, but instead, was relocated to Musashi, Edo. As one of the chief retainers of the time who attended to the Emperor and Shogunate, he's affluent enough to have ordered for his own country estate to be constructed. His father heralded as an unforgettable of might and very distinguished warrior – to the point of legend, and clever warrior, was prominent across the whole country as a war veteran. People in Edo have lauded him with several honorary titles, one of which includes the Four Guardian Kings of Tokugawa Shogunate - a title used since the Sengoku period. With such a public stature, it was easy for him to travel anywhere in the country with his household. Ariyuki and his siblings were given the best of atmosphere and surroundings to study and to grow up in, and also the greatest and most qualified of instructors, to become the finest of modern warriors and selected few of elites of the society. It was as sufficient as a high ranking soldier's life serving the Shogunate can get, Ariyuki, however, was identified with an illness (Asthma) that would hold back his progress to become his father's most idealized. Something that would later cause him to be before long 'disowned' by his father, due to the fact, he's seemingly isn't doing as well as expected.
However, contrary to his father's words, his natural talent drew all eyes of him, it was eye-catching and unbelievable. He was considered a 'child prodigy' by those that comes before him, and to eyewitnesses of his talents. He was committed in a number of martial arts, and sword styles; most obviously Battōjutsu. From thereon he's constantly working hard to become better in his father's eyes, and he worked harder than anybody else; and he possibly could. He had all the flairs and intrinsic talent for it that he was almost registered in the other Bugei 'school' in the country, but he politely declined the scholarship offer. He simply doesn't see himself as up for the criterions of his father just yet, even though, by this point and time, and in all of honesty, he could effortlessly pass any academic exams and his abilities are well above average. He is already a cream of the crop of his peer group, despite that, it seems his father still doesn't wish to recognize him, this made him dislike his father because he couldn't comprehend his actions, and what he truly wants from him. In Edo itself he is relatively dreaded, and always considered a superb match.
There wasn't anything querulous about the circumstances, his father was exacting in his judgement that his youngest son has yet to prove himself commendable of his family's appellation, and gave him a second chance to beat his illness by joining the Bugei School in Osaka. Before attending the school, he was to live on his own, as if a Ronin, drifting the country for over a year, as a nomad. He was to study more about things, experience them and master them fast enough to sway his demanding father. It was passive, healthy and enjoyable for him, not too hard on his body, wayfaring like this. He usually stop at the foot hill to visit temples and historical sites and some peaks, and the rural areas, and the forests. It was at this point that he sought out the nature to become his teacher. To become one with nature. He spent several months from all things civilization, or related to it.
Until the conflicts brewing make their way to even the countryside, and deep into the heart of the highlands. He was then asked by his fellow non-aligned (those who travelled with him and who stayed neutral), what side he will pick – the Shogunate or the resistance, he did not announce it. After several months of expedition, he reached Hokkaido, his birth place. He was received by his family ritualistically, it was the most transcendental event. He was then told by his father that the time is correct, and he was ready, that he is to be immediately referred to Bugei, he thought he would be just sent packing like that. However, contrary to his own viewpoint of the state of affairs, he was imparted with a katana, this katana is sort of an Heirloom item, and was once in employment, by his own father. He knew his father was to a certain extent a shrewd man, everything of his actions and words have thoughtful meanings, but not to this extent.
He assumed he was on bad terms with his father, but in all actuality, his father only wants him far away for a while to see the world outside, to experience more things. His father never bear any ill-will or disappointment with him at all, in fact, he is full of pride of his fledgling son. And, he wish for him not to tail on his footstep, but to follow his own path from here onward. And, he mustn’t falter to achieve his and his father's vision with unconditional focus. Especially since, once again, the country is at the brink of war. His father's anticipation of him is to make it as a monumental warrior of the age with a studious mind, to outdo his father who had been extoled as a man who could cleave apart an "army of thousands with ease", despite the initial misgiving. Now, with all of that, Naegi Ariyuki is a young man who has set out to unify Japan so as to deliver the peace he hopes to bring.
