Eyes: A dark steely blue

Clothing/appearance: Much of Himeko's taste in fashion is pretty feminine, and often emulates school uniforms in composition. This means blouses, pleated skirts and tall socks are mainstays in Himeko's closet. Though there's not much in the way of jewelry in Himeko's wardrobe, there are a number of hair accessories just in case s/he wants to change it up a bit. For more formal occasions Himeko has a couple of kimono graced with the family mon, though again these are girls' kimono. No matter the situation the one thing Himeko will not be seen wearing is pants.
Inventory/accessories: Phone, card pouch (for ID/point cards/etc), small leather shoulder bag, emergency makeup kit, notebook for sketches, pencil, eraser.
<> Self <>
Personality: Himeko is generally a very amicable person, bearing a rosy personality even in the faced with difficult situations. Somewhat averse to confrontation Himeko would rather try and defuse a situation with polite small talk or jokes than get into an argument. With noble femininity as the ideal Himeko does her utmost to act as a proper lady should, and furthermore how a lady of her lineage is expected to. S/he strives to be polite and courteous to her classmates, respectful towards her seniors and instructors, and supportive of the traditions and institutions of both the school and samurai traditions. It seems like Himeko always has time to hear out the concerns of others, no matter how full her schedule is.
Though Himeko acts the part of a demure lady, s/he's cautious not to say too much about herself or own concerns to just anyone. Problems at home are such that only away from the home can Himeko really express her true nature. S/he also doesn't deal well with negative emotions and tends to bottle them up rather than deal with them. Ideally Himeko would love to reach out and make real connections with peers, make some real friends, but she also worries about letting anyone get too close. Others have hurt her in the past by doing so and s/he desperately wants to avoid letting it occur again.
Polite as s/he tries to be Himeko also has a bit of a competitive side and has a hard time feeling as if s/he's losing. This is perhaps the only time someone is liable to see Himeko lose their temper over anything. Afterwards s/he is nearly always apologetic and remorseful, desperate to make up for even perceived slights. All of this is because s/he wants to be accepted by others, something that gives Himeko reassurance that things are okay.
Likes: Sweets, a good (positive) talk with someone, graphic novels, fashion, small group activities, board games, karaoke, acting.
Dislikes: Arguments, pants, being confronted, having short hair, contact sports.
Ambitions/Goals: Himeko's goals are rather simple but important on a personal level all the same. Firstly Himeko wants to be accepted fully as an Oda lady, though achieving the father's approval isn't likely, one who's a leader in society to some degree. Secondly Himeko strives to find romance in some form, which again may prove difficult. But what's an Oda without ambition?
Habits/Mannerisms: Himeko thinks about romantic things often enough that s/he can get caught up in the midst of daydreams. In such situations she will inevitably make oddly specific denials about what s/he's thinking about, even though nobody asked about that in particular. S/he tends to hum perky J-Pop sounding melodies when she's bored, or when she senses a confrontation coming - sort of a nervous tick in a way.
Strengths: Himeko is considerably kind to most peers, willing to take time outside a normal schedule to assist them. S/he is also competitive enough that s/he puts everything s/he has into a challenge, no matter its nature. Additionally Himeko is fairly talented in creative art, especially painting and acting. Optimism runs strong with Himeko as well so it's very likely s/he'll be able to put a positive spin on most anything.
Weaknesses: Despite coming from a samurai background Himeko has little actual combat ability, with only rudimentary skill in kendo. Being so small s/he is also not very physically strong and won't be winning any contests of brawn anytime soon. Not terribly good with confrontation, Himeko is prone to backing down or remaining silent when something comes to an argument or the like. That optimism comes at the cost of failing to see an ugly truth when one presents itself, making Himeko a little stubborn in a way.
<> Background <>
Support: Rin Oda (mother), Mako Oda (older sister)
History: Himeko was born into an offshoot of the once-powerful Oda clan, a family which itself fought hard to maintain both traditions and image in Japan. Oda men were expected to exemplify the samurai ideal with skill in martial arts and tactics being considered paramount. The third child of this family, Himeko was born as Genji - a boy. From an early age it was apparent that Genji wasn't like the eldest son, Daiki. Rather than take joy in kendo and judo, Genji preferred to spend time with his sister and the daughters of the few remaining family servants.
Growing older Genji began to feel as if he really ought to have been born a girl, that being a boy was the result of some trickster kami or the like. He began dressing and acting like who he felt he was inside, despite both Daiki and his father being infuriated by it. Rather than stop when punished for being too efeminate, Genji just started doing it more in secret. Eventually he decided on a girl's name as well - Himeko, since he felt like a princess when allowed to be himself. Or herself, by this point.
Getting into an elite academy was the result of long nights of hard work on the academic side and support from the mother and older sister. Only with their encouragement was Himeko Oda able to get in, without telling her father everything. All the man of the house was told was that Genji had gotten into the academy; not that it had been under the name of Himeko Oda. To this day Himeko's father still hasn't been informed of the truth, but he has a 'proper' son to take up most of his attention. Genji is a far-off notion rather than a reality, just how Mr. Oda prefers it. Himeko is able to be herself and not deal with problems at home, which is just how s/he likes it.
